Span Announces EV Charger and Meter Panel

Span, the company that reinvented the electrical panel so homeowners can intelligently control and automate their energy consumption, has announced two new products that make it even easier for homeowners to transition to sustainable transport and clean energy sources.

Span Drive is a Level-2 car charger that will bring faster, smarter, and more flexible charging to any electric vehicle. Span Meter Panel is a drop-in replacement for antiquated combination meter panels. By completely replacing the old panel, Span Meter Panel streamlines installation, while simultaneously providing controls and intelligence that elevates a home’s energy capabilities and improves the performance of any solar and storage solution.

Span has partnered with Bould Design to design their entire suite of hardware products. The design of Span Drive keys off of the clean and minimal design language established by the first and second generation Span Panels. The Bould Design team deployed an extensive process of research, iterative prototyping, and user testing to thoroughly address the context and ergonomic minutiae of the charging process.

Span Meter Panel incorporates the meter in a modern, flexible form factor that allows for installation with overhead or underground electrical infrastructure. The Meter Panel integrates a host of unsightly hardware required for home battery backup solutions into one elegant product that homeowners will be proud to display on the side of their houses.

With these two new offerings, Span continues to bring elegant, user-centered design to an unloved and outdated product category, paving the way for the electrification of homes all over the United States. The two products also add to Bould Design’s growing portfolio of products, such as the Nest Learning Thermostat and Spin S-100T Electric Scooter, that leverage technology and good design to tackle climate change.
